How do you tell whether an agency is right for you?
By whether it will also tell you what it is wrong for.
Three questions decide whether a working relationship will hold: what kind of agency is this, who does it work for, and how far away is it? Our answers are below, one after the other, so you can check them in five minutes instead of reading through eight service pages.
Question 1
Full service or specialist? — Full service, all under one roof.
ICOM is a full-service agency: concept, copy, design, print management, film, photography, 3D, websites and trade-show presence all come out of one building in Regau. We are not a single-channel specialist — not a film production house, not a social media shop, not an SEO outfit.
Two things follow from that. You have one point of contact for the whole job instead of three with different schedules. And there is nothing lost in the hand-off between trades: the person who designed the brochure knows what the product looks like on film, and the person planning the stand built the print data. When a trade-show date will not move, that is the difference — 26 trade shows on four continents in one year do not happen any other way.
What we do not make ourselves, we buy and run: print, freight, stand construction, translation. You get a finished delivery, not a file and a problem.
Question 2
Who for? — B2B, and for products that need explaining.
Our clients sell to other companies, not to shoppers at a shelf. Their products need explaining, the decision takes months, and several people make it together. We are at home in medical technology, mechanical engineering and mechatronics, plastics and automotive supply, pharma and industry — from corporate subsidiaries with their own global marketing departments to owner-run manufacturers nearby.
The evidence is not a sentence, it is the archive: 959 documented jobs and enquiries across 68 firms, 17 of them running as multi-year series. Nobody keeps ordering for years from someone who does not deliver. The cases are on our references page.
What we are not the right agency for
This is the less comfortable part and the more useful one. If one of these describes you, we have just saved you a meeting — and you will find an agency elsewhere that does it every day, and faster:
- Pure consumer marketing. Building a brand for a product fighting for attention on a supermarket shelf is a craft of its own. It is not ours.
- Retail and hospitality chain advertising. Weekly offers, local radio, leaflets with prices on them: other agencies do that faster and cheaper than we can.
- Influencer marketing. We do not broker reach and we do not book creators. In the markets our clients sell into, nobody buys a production line because an influencer showed it in a video.
Question 3
How close? — Regau, district of Vöcklabruck, Upper Austria.
Our building is at Betriebsstrasse 13, 4844 Regau. We drive to meetings across the region ourselves: Vöcklabruck, Gmunden, Lake Attersee, Wels, Linz and Salzburg are a morning from here, not a travel day. For a first conversation we come to you, not the other way round.
The shooting and the shipping happen further out: trade shows from Bangkok to Mexico, print deliveries to Lisbon, Oslo, Israel and East Africa, mailings across Europe. The account is still run from Regau — the number you call stays the same, whichever continent a pallet is standing on.
And then?
Three ways to work with us.
You do not have to commit to anything large. There are three routes, and all three are normal:
-
A single job
A catalogue, a product film, a trade-show stand, a mailing. Scoped, quoted, delivered, invoiced, done. Almost every partnership we have started this way — including the ones now in their twenty-eighth year.
-
Ongoing support
Your year has the same fixed points in it: congress season, the catalogue reprint, two trade shows, one product launch. We know the calendar, the approval routes and the review systems — and we call before it gets tight, instead of waiting for you to call us.
-
A growth retainer
The furthest step: we build the marketing system inside your company — website, advertising, video, online presence and the tools behind them — work alongside your team for a while, and hand it over piece by piece. In the end your team runs it and we stay on as a service partner. It ties us up, so we run no more than two or three such retainers at a time.
Questions we actually get
Short answers, no sales talk.
Do you work with small companies?
Yes. In October 2025 the job was a single shooting day for a cultural venue in Vöcklabruck — same preparation, same people who otherwise shoot medical devices. One data sheet, one roll-up, one shooting day: all fine. What does not work is running a marketing programme on a budget that cannot carry one. We will say so.
Is it only film, or print as well?
More than half of what we produce in a year is designed print — 68 design projects in 2025 alone. Film and photography are part of the work, not the whole of it. Add websites, trade shows, direct mail and promotional items.
Can you work in English?
Our copy is written by a native English speaker who sits in our office in Regau. We have set documents from Italian to Japanese. This website exists in full in English — written in English, not run through a translation.
How fast do you reply?
A person answers, usually the same working day. No ticket system, no queue. The person who takes your brief is the person who does the work.
What if we already have an agency?
That is the rule rather than the exception. Many of our clients keep a lead agency for the brand and bring us in for what it does not cover: production, print management, film, trade shows. We do not have to be your only agency to be useful.
Will you come to us?
Anywhere around Regau, yes — for a first conversation as readily as for a shooting day. Further afield we travel regularly anyway, but for a first meeting a video call usually does the job.
What does it cost?
We publish no rate card, because two brochures, two films or two trade-show stands almost never cost the same. You get a quote for your project, with line items and days, before anyone starts. Third-party costs such as print, travel and stand construction are listed separately.
Who actually does the work?
A team of six in one building in Regau: design, film, 3D, copy, operations. The names and faces are on our About page. There is no second tier to hand your project down to.
If you read this far and nothing ruled you out, we are probably a fit. What we have made for others is on References — with the industry, the period and what came out of it. And if you would rather just talk it through: the form below reaches a person.
Which of these do you actually need?
A conversation settles that faster than a quote. And we will tell you when something is no use to you.
Every enquiry is welcome — including the ones that never turn into a job. We learn something from every conversation. Tell us the problem, we will listen and think it through with you. That is the least anyone should expect.
